Igor Gorgonzola Novara secured a crucial 3–1 victory over Savino Del Bene Scandicci in the first leg of the CEV Champions League playoffs.

Playing at home at the Pala Igor Gorgonzola, Novara took control early, winning the first two sets 25–22 and 25–21. Although Scandicci fought back to take the third set 22–25, Novara closed out the match with a tight 25–23 win in the fourth.

Novara showed impressive offensive depth throughout the match. The scoring load was led by Tatiana Tolok, while outside hitters Mayu Ishikawa and Lina Alsmeier added significant contributions to keep the attack balanced and unpredictable.

Federica Squarcini continued her strong form, making a noticeable impact at the net. Her stability and ability to deliver critical points gave Novara the edge in key moments, reinforcing her growing reputation as one of the team’s most reliable performers.

Scandicci, despite the defeat, demonstrated resilience. Star opposite Ekaterina Antropova remained a constant threat, challenging Novara’s defense with her powerful hitting and keeping her team competitive until the final points.

With this win, Novara heads into the second playoff leg next week needing only two sets to advance to the quarterfinals, where they would face Fenerbahçe.
