The Sultanlar Ligi reached Matchday 12 this Wednesday, featuring a classic Istanbul derby between two powerhouses: Eczacıbaşı Dynavit and Galatasaray Daikin.
Eczacıbaşı hosted the clash and came out on top in straight sets, 25–23, 25–17, 25–21. Galatasaray started strong in the opening set, but the home side rallied late to take it 25–23.
The second set was balanced until midway, when Eczacıbaşı pulled away to win 25–17. In the third, momentum stayed with the hosts, who closed the match 25–21 for their third consecutive league victory.
The standout performance came from Ebrar Karakurt, who led all scorers with 16 points, while Magdalena Stysiak and Dana Rettke each added 11 points to secure the win. Eczacıbaşı’s overall defensive and serving strength was also evident, as the team registered 10 blocks and 2 aces during the match.
Meanwhile defending champions VakıfBank continued their perfect run in the Sultanlar Ligi, beating Aras Kargo 3–0 in İzmir to secure their 12th win of the season.
The sets ended 25–23, 26–24, 25–23, with VakıfBank rallying from deficits in both the first and second sets. Marina Markova led the scoring with 21 points, while contributions across the roster and strong blocking helped seal the straight‑sets victory.
Elsewhere, second‑placed Fenerbahçe Medicana hosted Göztepe and came away with a 3–1 victory, marking their 11th win of the season.
The sets finished 27–29, 25–17, 25–20, 25–17. After dropping a tight opener, Fenerbahçe responded strongly, taking control in the next three sets. The standout was Melissa Vargas with 31 points, while Arina Fedorovtseva added 20, ensuring the team’s attack remained dominant throughout.
