The 2026 CSV South American Women's Volleyball Championship is underway at the iconic Maracanãzinho, and all eyes on the host nation. Brazil enters the tournament as the heavy favorite, boasting an elite roster packed with world-class stars. Playing on home soil, the local heroes carry immense pressure, but also the unmatched pedigree of a true volleyball superpower.
The stakes could not be higher for the Seleção. Beyond defending their continental supremacy, the ultimate prize of this tournament is a direct qualification ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Brazil aims to extend an incredible era of regional dominance: they are fighting to protect a three-decade reign, having won a record 23 continental titles, including 15 consecutive gold medals since 1995. Brazil aims to lock in their spot early for LA28 to focus entirely on their long-term preparation.
The biggest storyline of the tournament is the highly anticipated return of team captain Gabi Guimarães. After sitting out the entire Volleyball Nations League (VNL) season, the superstar outside hitter is back in full force, anchoring a star-studded lineup that features marquee names like Ana Cristina, Rosamaria, and Julia Bergmann.
Participating Teams
A total of six premier South American nations are battling for continental glory:
- 🇧🇷 Brazil (Hosts & Defending Champions)
- 🇦🇷 Argentina
- 🇨🇴 Colombia
- 🇨🇱 Chile
- 🇵🇪 Peru
- 🇻🇪 Venezuela
Tournament Format
The championship features a straightforward round-robin format with a single pool. There are no playoffs or bracket stages; every country faces each other exactly once.
The team that finishes at the top of the standings table after the final matchday will automatically capture the official South American title and punch their ticket to LA28. Additionally, the top three finishers secure berths for the 2027 World Championship.
