The Omaha Supernovas opened their 2026 Major League Volleyball season with a straight-set win over the San Diego Mojo on Thursday night at the CHI Health Center, where 9,538 spectators were in attendance.
Outside hitter and team captain Sarah Parsons made her franchise debut with a standout performance, as player of the match. She recorded 17 kills, three blocks, three digs, and one ace, totaling 21 points
Her 17 kills and 21 points set new franchise records for a three-set match. While Merritt Beason contributed seven kills, 10 digs, three blocks, and one ace to finish with 11 points.
Fellow captain Brooke Nuneviller added six kills and one ace while leading all players with 16 digs. Middle blockers Elise Goatzinger and Janice Leao also impressed in their first matches with Omaha. Goatzinger tallied seven kills, two aces, and one block, while Leao finished with six kills and one block.
Setter Sydney Hilley returned to the Supernovas lineup after previously winning the inaugural MLV Championship in 2024. She distributed 38 assists, averaging 12.67 per set, and added six digs, two aces, and one kill. Libero Morgan Hentz contributed 11 digs and three assists.
For San Diego, Grace Loberg led the Mojo with nine kills. Former Supernovas middle blocker Kayla Caffey added eight kills, one block, and one ace in her return to Omaha.
