Texas A&M pulled off one of the biggest surprises in NCAA Women’s Volleyball, beating No. 1 Nebraska 3–2 in Lincoln to reach their first Final Four. Nebraska came in undefeated at 33–0 and had the home crowd behind them at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, but the Aggies ended that perfect run with a gutsy performance.
Nebraska had been rolling all season and most people thought they’d cruise to another national title. Instead, Texas A&M came out swinging, taking the first two sets 25–22, 25–22. Nebraska answered in the third with a 25–20 win, but the Aggies fought back in a wild fourth set that went all the way to 35–27. In the final set, A&M held steady and closed it out 15–13, stunning everyone in the building.
The Aggies leaned on Kyndal Stowers, who had 25 kills, and Logan Lednicky, who added 24 kills and six block assists. They got extra help from Emily Hellmuth’s 13 kills and Ifenna Cos-okpalla’s defense, which included three solo blocks and five block assists. As a team, they outblocked Nebraska 30–16, which made a huge difference.
For Nebraska, the loss was crushing — they were the top seed, undefeated, and playing at home in front of a crowd that almost never sees them lose. For Texas A&M, it was history: their first trip to the Final Four and a win that will be remembered as one of the biggest upsets the sport has ever seen.
