Imoco Volley Conegliano

Imoco Volley Conegliano opened their campaign at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship in São Paulo with exactly the kind of performance everyone expected from them.

Backed by a lively Brazilian crowd, who came in numbers to cheer for their national team captain Gabriela “Gabi” Guimarães, the Italian side swept past the Orlando Valkyries from the USA with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-13, 25-19) in their first Group B match.

Leading the way was Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak, who delivered a standout performance with 21 points, including 15 kills, four aces, and two blocks. She was well supported by Zhu Ting, who added 13 points, and Gabi herself, who contributed 11. Setter Joanna Wołosz summed it up afterwards, saying it felt like a perfect start and praising the atmosphere created by the Brazilian fans, which made the team feel almost at home.

For Orlando, this was a historic night as they played their very first match at the Club World Championship. Team captain Brittany Abercrombie tried to keep her side in the fight, finishing as their top scorer with nine points, all from kills, but Conegliano’s depth and power proved too much.

In the other Group B match, Brazilian side Dentil/Praia Clube defeated Egypt’s Zamalek 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-15). Meanwhile, in Group A, Savino Del Bene Scandicci overcame Zhetysu VK from Kazakhstan 3-0, with Ekaterina Antropova leading the way with 19 points.
