Savino Del Bene Scandicci claimed a hard-fought Serie A away victory on Sunday, defeating Igor Gorgonzola Novara at Pala Igor in a thrilling five-set match.
Last season’s runners-up found themselves trailing 2–0 but showed remarkable resilience, bouncing back to win three consecutive sets.
The final scoreline read 25–22, 25–19, 27–29, 13–25, 11–15 in favor of Scandicci. After narrowly losing the third set in extra points, the visitors surged with confidence, dominating the fourth and clinching the decisive fifth set with composure and grit.
Ekaterina Antropova was on fire throughout the match, scoring no less than 26 points and leading the charge for Scandicci. American standout Avery Skinner also delivered a strong performance, adding 21 points.
On the Novara side, three players—Amber Igiede, Mayu Ishikawa, and Britt Herbots—each contributed 18 points, keeping the match tightly contested until the end.
With this victory, Savino Del Bene Scandicci solidifies their position as second overall in the Serie A championship standings. They now have a total of 19 points, just one behind leaders Imoco Volley Conegliano, although Scandicci has played one more game.
