It was a true derby thriller with Istanbul’s giants Fenerbahçe Medicana hosting arch-rival Galatasaray Daikin. Fenerbahçe claimed a 3-2 victory in Week 6 of the Sultanlar Ligi, maintaining an unbeaten record with six wins. 

The match, played at Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall, ended with set scores of 27-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-27, and 15-11. Arina Fedorovtseva led all scorers with 37 points, Melissa Vargas added 32, and Eda Erdem contributed 11.

The opening set was closely contested. Fenerbahçe recovered from a five-point deficit to level at 18-18, and despite Galatasaray tying again at 24-24, Fenerbahçe closed the set 27-25 to lead 1-0.

Galatasaray responded strongly by taking the second set 25-22, leveling the match at 1-1.

In the third set, Fenerbahçe gained momentum during Captain Eda Erdem’s service run to move ahead 18-14. With Arina scoring 8 points in the set, they secured it 25-23 for a 2-1 lead.

The fourth set saw both sides exchange control, with Galatasaray eventually winning 27-25 to tie the match at 2-2.

In the deciding set, Fenerbahçe entered the court change ahead 8-7 and maintained the advantage, closing the set 15-11 to secure the 3-2 victory.

With this sixth straight win, Fenerbahçe stands second overall in the Sultanlar Ligi with 17 points, just one behind rivals VakıfBank who lead with 18.
