After a long three-week break, the Sultanlar Ligi action resumed in Turkey with Matchday 5. The headliner was undoubtedly Eczacıbaşı Dynavit hosting Fenerbahçe Medicana, a true Istanbul derby featuring two of the league’s most important squads.
Fenerbahçe Medicana, who have been performing impressively since the start of the 2025/2026 season, claimed a 3-1 victory at the Eczacıbaşı Spor Salonu in front of 4,000 fans.
In the first set, there was little competition as the Yellow and Blue side dominated 13-25.
The hosts bounced back in the second set, taking it 25-21.
The third set was once again all Fenerbahçe, ending 15-25.
The final set turned into a thriller, with Eczacıbaşı refusing to capitulate at home and pushing the visitors to the limit before narrowly losing 26-28 in dramatic fashion.
Eczacıbaşı Dynavit’s Magdalena Stysiak was the top scorer of the match with 25 points, while Fenerbahçe Medicana’s Melissa Vargas contributed 23 points.
Meanwhile, VakifBank, the other co-leader of the Sultanlar Ligi, secured a clean 3-0 sweep away against Aydın Büyükşehir Belediyespor.
At the top of the table, both Fenerbahçe Medicana and VakifBank lead with five wins and a total of 15 points each.
