Why Omaha deserves a spot in the 2027 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship: The heartbeat of American volleyball

With the U.S. and Canada set to co-host the 2027 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship—featuring 32 elite teams across 64 matches—Omaha, Nebraska, is a must-pick for pool play and early knockout rounds, complementing the final rounds in Anaheim.

Nebraska is the heart of American volleyball, with the highest per capita participation and a fanbase that treats the sport like a cultural cornerstone.

The state boasts four elite teams: the professional Omaha Supernovas (Major League Volleyball), LOVB Nebraska (League One Volleyball), the NCAA powerhouse Nebraska Huskers (Big Ten), and the competitive Creighton Bluejays (Big East).

These teams draw massive crowds, with the Huskers packing 8,000+ seats and Creighton-Nebraska clashes hitting 17,000+ fans at the Omaha’s CHI Health Center.

The CHI Health Center is also home of the Supernovas in MLV, who have already proven its potential, setting U.S. pro volleyball records with 13,486 fans at their 2025 opener and a league-leading 10,925 average per game, totaling 152,949 across 14 matches—a 32% jump from 2024.

Hosting here guarantees sellouts of 15,000+ per match, fueled by NovasNation’s unmatched energy, rivaling global volleyball hotbeds.

Omaha can amplify the championship’s energy, showcasing Nebraska’s volleyball dominance. With its passionate fans and world-class venue, the city is the place to be for the 2027 World Championship.
