The Netherlands national team enters the CEV Women’s EuroVolley 2026 looking to recapture the strong form that carried them to the Volleyball Nations League Finals in Macao. Following that successful VNL run against the world's top teams, the squad arrives in Baku with plenty of confidence and a balanced lineup, aiming to go as far as possible in the tournament with a clear eye on reaching at least the semifinals.
The team benefits from a well-established chemistry across all positions. At setter, the experienced Britt Bongaerts pairs naturally with the precise Sarah van Aalen, giving the offense the flexibility to change paces and keep opposing blockers off balance.
On the wings, opposite Elles Dambrink provides reliable, steady scoring. She is well-supported by outside hitters Jolien Knollema, Hester Jasper, Marrit Jasper, Laura Jansen, Nicole van de Vosse, and Jet Kok, who bring a steady mix of solid pass reception and smart attacking choices.
At the net, middle blocker Indy Baijens leads the front row with her quick transition plays and solid defensive presence. Working alongside Marije ten Brinke, Suus Gerritsen, and Britte Stuut, she helps form a tall, active wall that makes things difficult for opposing hitters.
The back-row defense is anchored by their double-libero setup, featuring Hester Jasper and Florien Reesink in their distinct white jerseys. By sharing the passing and digging duties, they bring a calm stability to the back court, keeping tough rallies alive and setting up effective counter-attacks.
The Netherlands will start their campaign as favorites in Pool C in Baku, but the group still presents some interesting challenges.
They face a familiar regional matchup against Belgium, alongside competitive fixtures against Spain, Romania, Portugal, and the host country Azerbaijan. Navigating this opening stage smoothly is just the first step for this resilient and always-smiling group, as they are fully determined to push past all limits and go as far as humanly possible in this tournament.
