Turkish outside hitter Cansu Çetin has officially parted ways with the SL Benfica women’s volleyball team, following the expiration of her contract on June 30, 2026.

Joining the club ahead of the 2024/25 season, Çetin quickly became a cornerstone of the squad during her two-year tenure in Lisbon. Her leadership and international experience provided the team with the competitive edge needed to challenge for top honors domestically.

Her impact on the Portuguese side was both immediate and historic. During her debut season, Çetin helped guide Benfica to a monumental National Championship title, breaking a 50-year drought for the club.
Beyond the league success, her time with the Eagles was further embellished by winning two consecutive domestic Supercups, cementing this era as one of the most successful periods for the women's volleyball program. The club has publicly expressed its deep gratitude for her dedication and wished her the absolute best in her future endeavors.
However, looking ahead to the future, transfer rumors regarding a next destination in Portugal specifically focus on Çetin alone. Reports indicate strong interest in the Turkish star from Benfica's historical rival, Sporting CP, as well as from SC Braga, who finished as the runners-up in the recent 2025/2026 championship.
Cansu Çetin is not the only player departing this summer, as SL Benfica announced she leaves the club alongside Veronika Djokic and Kyra Holt, the other key foreign players who shared her exact same historic two-year journey, contributed to the same titles, and officially ended their contractual ties on June 30, 2026.
