Türk Hava Yolları SK pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the 2025/2026 Sultanlar Ligi season, beating Fenerbahçe Medicana 3-2 in a thrilling Matchday 15 clash.
The sets ended 18-25, 28-26, 26-24, 15-25, and 15-12, with Türk Hava Yolları celebrating a win few expected.
Before the game, Fenerbahçe were clear favorites. Sitting second in the league and with a strong roster, the Yellow and Blues looked ready to handle their eighth-placed opponents. But Türk Hava Yolları showed they were not afraid.
Even with Arina Fedorovtseva scoring 29 points, Fenerbahçe could not stop the fight from their rivals. Julia Isabelle Bergmann led Türk Hava Yolları with 26 points, stepping up when it mattered most.
The match unfolded set by set: Fenerbahçe controlled the first 25-18, but Türk Hava Yolları answered with two tight wins at 28-26 and 26-24.
Fenerbahçe struck back in the fourth, taking it 25-15, before the underdogs held their nerve in the decider, sealing the shock with a 15-12 finish.
Unfortunately, Fenerbahçe’s Hande Baladın suffered an injury, was forced to leave the court, and could not finish the match.
UPDATE: Club Statement: Fenerbahçe confirmed Hande Baladın’s right ankle injury and announced that treatment has begun immediately.
