The Club Africain Women’s Volleyball team has long been a pillar of the Tunisian game. Last season, the team finished runner-up in both the Tunisia Women’s Volleyball League and the National Cup, second only to the all-conquering CF Carthage.

Yet despite this achievement, recent mixed results have sparked frustration among some fans, with calls on social media for the outright shutdown of the section.

Such reactions are extreme and unfair. The players are giving everything on the court, and while the squad is still progressing, it is clear that reinforcements are needed — particularly a foreign top scorer, as rivals CF Carthage and Espérance Tunis have successfully integrated into their rosters.

This is not a sign of weakness, but of ambition: strengthening the team to match the highest level of competition.

The reality is simple: when results are positive, everyone celebrates. But after a single defeat, criticism flares up online, with “some” voices demanding dissolution of the section.

That is not only disproportionate, it is a disservice to the athletes who fight for the club’s colors week after week.

Club Africain deserves respect for its tradition, its resilience, and its role in shaping Tunisian volleyball. The women’s game in Tunisia absolutely needs a giant like Club Africain — not only to challenge Carthage and Espérance, but to ensure the league remains competitive, vibrant, and inspiring for future generations.

Shutting down the section would be a mistake. Supporting it, investing in it, and giving the players the recognition they deserve is the only way forward.
