For over a decade, Gabriela Braga Guimarães has stood at the summit of international volleyball. Known simply as Gabi, the Brazilian outside hitter has become a global icon — a player whose name evokes excellence, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to winning.
A Decade of Dominance
Gabi’s rise wasn’t meteoric — it was methodical. From her early days with Minas Tênis Clube to her current role as captain of Brazil’s national team, she has built a career defined by consistency and clutch performances. Gabi’s club career in Europe has been nothing short of historic. With VakifBank Istanbul, she captured every major title available: the Turkish League, the CEV Champions League, and the FIVB Club World Championship. Her performances in Turkey cemented her reputation as one of the most feared outside hitters in the world.
Her move to Imoco Volley Conegliano in Italy only expanded her legacy. There, she continued her winning streak, adding Italian League titles and more continental silverware to her résumé. In both countries, Gabi became more than a star — she became the face of elite club volleyball.
Leading Brazil with Heart
Since being named captain of Brazil’s women’s national team in 2022, Gabi has led with poise and passion. Under her leadership, Brazil secured a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, followed by bronze in Paris and clinched a podium place in this year's Women's World Championship in Thailand.
